Amesto Translations has once again awarded me the status of Amesto Translations Certified Partner - this time for 2013. If you'd like to view a copy of the diploma, you'll find it here.

As before, Amesto Translations has classified all its suppliers on a scale of 0 to 4, and the diploma is awarded only to suppliers scoring a 4. So once again, I'd like to thank the teams at Amesto Translations in Oslo and Gothenburg for their faith in me, for giving me a wide range of challenging and interesting texts to translate - and for being such fun people to work with! :)

1 December 2012
Midnight Sun Translations is dead - long live Midnight Sun Translations Limited!

Following another brilliant year with lots of work, I've made the decision to switch from acting as a sole trader to working under a limited company. There will be no changes to any customer-facing procedures or prices, all the changes will be internal. Looking forward to lots more years of happy translating!

Today,we have some exciting news to report. Amesto Translations, with offices in Gothenburg and Oslo, has today awarded me the status of Amesto Translations Certified Partner for 2012. A copy of the diploma awarded can be viewed here.

Amesto Translations classifies all its suppliers on a scale of 0 to 4, and only suppliers scoring a 4 are awarded this accolade. So I'm very pleased that all my hard work has been recognised in this way, and I'd like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at the Amesto offices for being great people to work with and giving me lots of interesting jobs to do!

April 2012
It's been a while since the last news update, but that doesn't mean nothing has been happening! Midnight Sun Translations has gone from strength to strength, translating and editing many thousands of words every month. No news is simply a sign that things are very busy!

In addition to all that translation and editing work, I've also been working behind the scenes to improve in-house systems, and I now have in place a much more efficient accounting system. So you may notice that invoices are now issued weekly and that credit control is a lot more stringent! Not that I need to do much credit control - all my clients are extremely efficient at making punctual payments, so I only need to chase payments that are obviously very late. But these are very rare.

But that's not all that's been happening. You may have noticed that my website, FTP server and mail response times have all improved as well. This is due to a server upgrade which has recently been completed. So the current server solution is state-of-the-art, very fast and very efficient! Thank you to the team at Register 1 for their help with the migration and setup of the new server solution.

July 2010
The sun is shining, the school summer holidays are here - and while many people are away on their hols, we're taking the opportunity to move house! Consequently, the office will be closed on 22 and 23 July, but it'll be business as usual from Monday the 26th. I can be reached on my mobile those two days.

Of course, this means a change of contact details. Mails have gone out to all our clients, but if you didn't receive the update just drop me a line and I'll make sure you receive the new details. Also, please make sure your accounts departments are aware of the change - and all invoices from now on will include the new address details, although at present we'll still be using the same bank details.

It's been another fantastic year for us so far - lots to do and many interesting and challenging projects to complete. A huge thank you to all our clients - you know who you are. :) It's great to see so many of you doing so well, long may it continue!

Hope you all have a lovely summer break!

May 2008
Where has the time gone?! It's been an incredibly busy and hectic year so far, with lots of work coming in from all over the place. It's been full speed ahead at the Good Ship Midnight Sun, to say the least... Great to see so many of our valued clients doing so well! Everyone seems to be busy at the moment.

Which is why it's now time for a holiday! After burning the midnight (sun!) oil for quite some time, it's time to recharge the proverbial batteries and have a break. So I'm off to France for a few days to just have a rest away from computers and telephones!

Consequently, the office will be closed from 24 May to 2 June 2008 inclusive. I won't be available to take calls or do any work over the week, but the office will reopen on 3 June - from that point on we'll be steaming ahead again as usual!

Have a fantastic summer - hopefully the sun will shine a bit more on us this year before it's time for autumn again...

June 2007 - time for a break!
I think it's fair to say that the first half of 2007 has been a huge success! Everyone appears to have been snowed under with work, translators and clients alike. It's great to see the translation industry thriving and maintaining a strong position in our ever-changing world.

So now it's time for a little break. The office will be closed from 25 June to 2 July inclusive, but it's business as usual from 3 July. I won't be answering mails during the period, but I'll endeavour to answer as many mails as possible on my return.

Hope you all have a great summer!

Easter 2007
It doesn't seem like five minutes since I was wishing you all a Merry Christmas - and now Easter is upon us already! It's been a hectic few months here at Midnight Sun Translations. For some reason, the entire Scandinavian/German into English market has been saturated for weeks - which is great news! I thought things would calm down as Easter approached, but no... The "annual report season" seem to be drawing to a close now, but there are all kinds of other texts waiting in the wings, ensuring that no-one is left with nothing to do!

Many congratulations to all our clients on the sterling job you've been doing since Christmas - juggling many different projects simultaneously really isn't easy, and our job here has been greatly facilitated by your attention to detail, your flexibility and the fact that you're all managing to keep smiles on your faces despite some pretty challenging conditions! It's really a pleasure to have the privilege to work with you all. :)

That said, the office will be closed over the Easter weekend, although work will still be ongoing behind the scenes to make sure that all the texts placed for the post-Easter period get done on time. I'll be answering e-mails over the period, so if you have any urgent queries, please send me an e-mail. I won't be keeping regular office hours, but I'll be checking mail regularly and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful Easter!

Christmas is coming - again!
The advent calendar is already missing some of its chocolate, so that can mean only one thing... Christmas is almost upon us once again! The Christmas shopping is done, Santa has been tipped off about the very best presents to get and all we need now is a little snow to make it all just right.
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year, and we'd like to thank all of our clients who've kept us so busy throughout 2006. It's been an exciting year this year, with several reorganisations taking place at client companies. There have been many changes for the better, too, including new client portals for work tracking and delivery and changes to our own accounting system.
As usual, the office will be closed throughout Christmas week, but you can send us an e-mail during that time if you have any non-urgent requests. Alternatively, we can also be contacted by telephone or SMS - if you need the number to contact, please get in touch and we'll send you the number(s) you need, if you don't already have them.

2-19 September 2006
It's been a very busy year so far - many thanks to all the clients who've entrusted their work to me. I haven't counted exactly how many words I've translated this year, but it's hundreds of thousands!
But for now - some well-earned downtime is on the cards. Midnight Sun Translations will be shutting up shop for two weeks, from 2 September until 19 September, to recharge its batteries. But I'll be back on 19 September, fresh as a daisy and ready to take on anything you care to throw at me. Well, almost anything anyway. ;)
If you have any non-urgent enquiries while the office is closed, please contact me by e-mail. I'll reply on my return.

6 June 2006
Midnight Sun Translations is very happy to announce the launch of Lacey Mail Server for Windows XP, offering banking-standard e-mail security and full e-mail transaction logging. For more information on this, please click here.

15-17 May 2006
Summer is approaching rapidly, and it's time for a brief but well earned break from translating. So Midnight Sun Translations will be closing for three days from 15 to 17 May inclusive. While the office is closed, I should be contactable by mobile phone or e-mail - please drop me a line by e-mail if you need my mobile number.

Easter, 14-17 April 2006
The Easter Bunny has gone out shopping (hopping?!), and Midnight Sun Translations is waiting impatiently for him to bring the Easter Eggs round! Consequently, the office will be closed from Friday, 14 April (Good Friday) to Monday, 17 April (Easter Monday) inclusive. Normal service will resume on Tuesday, 18 April once vast amounts of chocolate have been consumed and energy levels are restored to normal. It's been a phenomenally busy start to 2006, so many thanks as always to all the clients who've kept me busy!

If you need to get in touch over the break, I'll be checking the e-mail accounts regularly. So please contact me by e-mail and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

A very Happy Easter to all!

E-mail address update
As of the end of April, Midnight Sun Translations will be consolidating its e-mail accounts and using only addresses routed via this domain, Therefore, if you're currently using any of the various options available, please update your address book accordingly.
